THE GANG IS ALL HERE!

Morgan on Nirvana, Hugo on Shaitan, the Aussies on Amarullah, Chris on Magus, Time Out, Catitude, and many new faces are gathering in the Southern bays. The volley ball tourneys are starting up, we have sufficient to get a poker game going on Thursdays and the kid boats are busy organizing their intricate social lives.

One boat that is missing is LuLudu.

Matt and Sue looked after Dizzy while I was skiing and they finally got around to hauling only to find that when they were splashed that they had a new leak around their rudder post. Some investigation showed that it was riddled with toredo worm. So they are back out on the hard. Fixing that will not be a trivial repair.

For the nautical anoraks LuLuDu is a Morecombe Bay Prawner although most likely built as a gentlemans yacht than a working boat. The signature rounded stern gives it away.

THE SHOPPING BUS FROM HELL

It was not Trevors fault. Some inspired official decided to hold a major incident exercise on the roundabout that is the choke point in South Grenada roads. Result TOTAL GRIDLOCK and the shopping trip from hell.

It is a really efficient service usually, dinghy dock to dinghy dock in an hour and a half. Pharmacy, supermarket and cash and carry all done for another week.

It was more than 4 hours before we were back at Whisper Cove and Trevor took us through parts of Grenada unseen by most travellers. It really screwed up his day as he has bookings all day and had a couple of pigs to pick up for a big pig roast party on the beach.

FIRST HAULOUTS BIRDS LIZARDS AND A DIFFERENT SUNSET

The huge financial investment in the new boatyard in Clarks Court bay

showed it's first return with two boats hauled out.

No electricity or water yet and it is gonna be dusty as they are still excavating but it is a major achievement to be only one month later than the projected date set before the first dozer started work.

I was over at Whisper Cove for Sunday Brunch and snapped these three.

Unusually he was perched and may not have been well.

This guy can collect disability and a blue parking pass but was doing just fine begging from the tables.

We get lots of lizards and but I have not seen one with as much yellow before. He/she too posed nicely.

WATERCOLOR SUNSET

The Lords and Ladies of the Sunset put away the flashy hilighters and acrylics in favor of the gentle watercolors.

My G&T tasted just as good though.

HOT FOOT HOT AND SOUR SOUP COOL CARS

I play poker online from time to time and I was really concentrating as I was getting close to the money bubble when I suddenly realized that one of my feet was quite hot.

Yup the cat hot water bottle strikes again.

COKE WARS

The coke bottlers on Grenada had held the franchise for 59 years. What they produce now is just not the real thing.

SOUP FOR DINNER.

I was born in Jamaica but have a UK passport and just now am in Grenada an island in the Caribbean, eating Chinese hot and sour soup cooked specially for me by a French Canadian. Life can be strange.

KEEPING COOL

Summer is not really hear but people work at keeping cool and parking your car in shade helps. I detoured and enjoyed the cool as I waited for my dollar bus home.

I needed to cool off after dealing with the bureaucracy involved in extending my visa. Still it is better here than some other islands. Banyan trees are cool.

SEA MOSS AKA IRISH SEA MOSS

This guy farms sea moss just off Whisper Cove Marina. I did wonder what the strings of coke bottle floats were doing. It is a popular local drink and herbal medication.

Sea Moss is known to add a little extra potency to the main male ingredient required for baby-making. Guys, if you’re having a little trouble conceiving, a healthy helping of Sea Moss will ensure that your boys will swim! A little too much and you may end up like me – father to twin boys!!

So, does Sea Moss really work? Depends on who you ask, but there’s no debating the drink’s strong nutritional value. Sea Moss has a rich mix of vitamins and minerals, most notably potassium, calcium and magnesium, that make it a favored elixir for treating everything from digestive disorders and ulcers, to depression, anxiety and even ADD.
